TFASA Engineering was established as an AMO (Aicraft Maintenance Organisation) in 2010. TFASA Engineering began operating in Oudtshoorn to support AIFA's (AVIC International Flight Academy) growing fleet. Due to the growing success of both companies, expansion was inevitable and TFASA Engineering officially expanded to George in April 2015. The George branch offers the same services as the Oudtshoorn branch.
MEET GEORGE AMO'S SENIOR STAFF
Wellington Charlie is TFASA's Chief Engineer and overseas both Oudtshoorn and George branches, as well as TFASA's satellite centre in Bisho. He will also be heading up the AMO's expansion to Beaufort West.
Ernst Schutte is the Deputy Chief Engineer and Managing AME at TFASA Engineering's George base. Ernst matriculated in 1997 from Wagpos High School in Brits, North West Province. He was selected to enrol as a Denel apprentice in 1998 where he was exposed to various SAAF and civilian aircraft. In 2000 he qualified and was awarded the 'Airframe Apprentice of the Year' award. He worked as a qualified engineer on Oryx Helicopters before moving on to South African Airways Technical, where he was exposed to heavy duty maintenance that shaped his mindset for general aviation. The next seven years at 43 Airschool, Ernst focussed on aviation in an airschool environment. As Senior Inspector of the rebuild section, his focus was on heavy duty maintenance and light helicopters. In 2009 he completed Robinson Helicopter training in Los Angeles, California. Ernst carries an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's license on various fixed wing aircraft as well as helicopters. In August 2013 he joined TFASA and is excited about TFASA's future and his part in it.
